Falling in Step

July 29, 2018July 29, 2018 ~ Kit Vantastic ~ 3 Comments

As soon as I knew I was moving to Cape Breton, I did the obvious and joined a week-long step-dancing program. OK, maybe it wasn’t the most obvious thing to do, but it felt like the most important. So much so, I didn’t even take time to consult my brain or hip, who both had … Continue reading Falling in Step

Day 4: Waiting for a Bite

June 5, 2018 ~ Kit Vantastic ~ 1 Comment

I went fishing with a friend in Arizona this winter. Words would have made noise in the quiet beauty of that desert lake. No fish were biting, but I contentedly watched as he rhythmically casted, again and again. There was a lovely whirrrrrrr, and the line would hit the water some distance away. If he … Continue reading Day 4: Waiting for a Bite

The Slow Food Road Trip- Coming Soon!

May 8, 2018May 9, 2018 ~ Kit Vantastic ~ 14 Comments

Spring greetings to my online hitch-hikers. If, like me, you are antsy to get back on the road, I have good news; a sweet salve for that pesky itch. Pack your bags, its time for another road trip! I’ve been on a little writing hiatus, resting at “base camp” in Ottawa; visiting friends, reconnecting with … Continue reading The Slow Food Road Trip- Coming Soon!

This Vantastic Life: The Accidental Vortex

March 12, 2018 ~ Kit Vantastic ~ 8 Comments

If you’ve been following my Sedona “mini-series” you know I worked on “letting Sedona come to me” rather than curating the experience; letting go of expectations for that Sedona energy thing. I need to finish my story now. Because, although it took a bit of time, Sedona did arrive. For three days I stayed in … Continue reading This Vantastic Life: The Accidental Vortex

A Month in a Minivan: Final Installment

March 2, 2018March 2, 2018 ~ Kit Vantastic ~ 42 Comments

The writer, Anais Nin wrote,  “I write to live life twice.” I imagine she meant she had the pleasure of experiencing all the good stuff twice - once in real-time and again through writing and remembering. This may be quite true, but I love this quote for my own quirky and slightly ironic reasons. Writing … Continue reading A Month in a Minivan: Final Installment

A Month in a Minivan: Day 27

February 28, 2018February 28, 2018 ~ Kit Vantastic ~ 10 Comments

Morning: I just enjoyed my third bath since yesterday and am pleased to report the water no longer smells like desert dust & donkey dung!  I think I might have let myself go in the last few days, just a little. Pippa’s up next; I’m afraid she doesn’t smell much better. I notice my throat is … Continue reading A Month in a Minivan: Day 27

A Month in a Minivan: Day 26

February 27, 2018 ~ Kit Vantastic ~ 13 Comments

I woke up this morning feeling like I had an actual  hangover. Is that a thing? A phantom hangover from merely fighting the idea of a drink? Given my mental fogginess, I gave myself permission to process less today. Today, I didn’t need to understand anything in particular. I declared it  “sensory day” - just … Continue reading A Month in a Minivan: Day 26

A Month in a Minivan: Day 25

February 26, 2018February 26, 2018 ~ Kit Vantastic ~ 11 Comments

I almost stayed in a hotel tonight. All day long I toyed with the idea, like a hungry cat first toys with a death-row mouse. There is a certain adrenaline that comes with the hunt; a rush that accompanies chasing something down and eventually eating it. The seed was planted early in the day, … Continue reading A Month in a Minivan: Day 25

A Month in a Minivan: Day 24

Today’s little journey is brought to you by the magic of “curiousity”. So, with Curiousity steering my ship, I managed to drift exactly 20 miles from last night’s port! Ha!  If youre going to be curious, do not be in a hurry. Do be ready to ask questions, and follow your wandering wonderings. It was … Continue reading A Month in a Minivan: Day 24

A Month in a Minivan: Day 23

February 24, 2018February 25, 2018 ~ Kit Vantastic ~ 5 Comments

Well, I floated out of Alamo Lake on a river of tears, but not before I blubbered all over my two walking-friends, and sniffled with the ladies at the Wayside. I’m sure they all think the Canadian is a little sideways. Well, I am a little sideways. My variety of sideways includes crying when I’m … Continue reading A Month in a Minivan: Day 23

In the past year I have learned to slow down and play, especially with art.
I am letting go of perfectionism. I am breathing more deeply. I have become more curious. Today, I am wishing curiousity for all of my friends. It can take you to some incredible places. ❤️👣🐞🐾🌸🌼🌞#camper#campervan#minivancamper#minivancamping#vanlife#vanlifediaries#campingcanada#nomadic#nomadiclife#travel#dodgecaravan#nomad#simplelife#campingwithdogs#explorecanada#solotravel#campingwithdogs#customcarpentry#homeiswhereyouparkit#campervanlicious#vanpireinc#campingwithpets#mycanadianphotos#solofemalevanlife#artontheroad#creativity Home- made all-local Beach Tortilla: open face, farm-fresh goodness with locally grown spelt, goat cream cheese, and greenhouse tomatoes and cukes- topped with parsley and balsamic! Be careful out there friends- we only have 7 species and they are all at risk. If safe, stop and move them to the other side - don’t put them “back” as they will just continue in the direction they are going. They got places to go and things to do! This is a momma snapper laying eggs! Important things! ❤️🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢❤️#camper#campervan#minivancamper#minivancamping#vanlife#vanlifediaries#campingcanada#nomadic#nomadiclife#travel#dodgecaravan#nomad#simplelife#campingwithdogs#explorecanada#solotravel#campingwithdogs#customcarpentry#homeiswhereyouparkit#campervanlicious#vanpireinc#campingwithpets#mycanadianphotos#solofemalevanlife#ontarioroadtrip #ontarioturtles I thought this looked like a giant log lobster !!!
